It’s safe to say that all of us that felt that ethanhaaswasright.com was related to 1-18-08 should now stick their heads as far up their asses as possible. So to whomever started the massive cult following of the correlation between the two, I hope you have to suffer years upon years of “Happy Shiny People” ala Bubble Boy.
And to the people who registered ethanhaas.org, .net and org… Well, that’s what you get!
We have confirmation from J.J. Abrams that Ethan Haas is not related.
Dear Sir,
Thanks for your support of our little movie. I can’t wait to talk to you more about it — of course, knowing you, by the time we talk you’ll know more than I will.
Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we’re doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn’t kick some massive ASS, who gives a rat’s about what’s online? So as you can imagine, we’re focusing mostly on THAT. For what it’s worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us.
Stay cool the rest of the summer — and thanks per usual for AICN!
JJ

What about http://www.slusho.com (which takes you to http://www.slusho.jp) ? Does anyone know if that’s real? I sent an email to their contact address and got this auto reply:
Slusho! loves your mails!! You Can’t Drink Just Six!!!
Very interesting. If it is all fake, some one sure put a lot of time, money, and energy into the whole thing.
Either way - the whole Ethan Haas game/experiment is still very interesting.
As for the 01-18-08 trailer however - it is WAY cool. JJs projects thus far have all been outstanding.
The Ethan Haas viral market is in fact real, but it’s relation to “Cloverfield”/”Slusho” is debunked.
It’s basically just a big set up for what most seem to guess to be a table-top RPG game of sorts.
